Several perfume samples have arrived, but you are unsure which deserves a larger bottle. Organise the comparison before adding more choices: identify each product, keep the format clear and write a short note after each trial. Remember what you actually enjoyed instead of mixing up names and impressions.
Choose one question to answer
Ask something practical: which scent would I like to wear again, or which better suits my interest in vanilla? Do not turn every trial into one combined contest for longevity, projection, price and every possible occasion. You can enjoy a fragrance without needing to buy it now.
If you have not chosen a direction yet, start with our fragrance selection guide. This article covers the next step: keeping useful records for an existing shortlist, rather than making it longer.
A simple record for each sample
Copy these prompts into your phone and keep the answers brief. This is a personal decision record, not a laboratory protocol or an objective quality score.
- Full name: product, brand and exact edition where specified.
- What did I try? Spray or oil, with the stated volume or weight.
- Trial date: the day and relevant circumstances, such as another fragrance already present in the room.
- My impression: a sentence in your own words rather than an advertising claim.
- What did I enjoy or dislike? For example, sweetness or a floral direction; you do not need to identify every note.
- Next step: try again, choose a suitable size, or set it aside for now.
Keep the comparison question consistent
When comparing two scents, choose the same format if available. Comparing an oil with a spray of the same fragrance is a separate question. A note saying only “I liked Ashlesha” will not remind you which format you tried. Writing the reference fragrance’s name does not mean you tested the original house’s bottle.
Give each choice a separate trial to keep your observations clear. Record your approach and follow the product’s usage directions. There is no need to invent a universal spray count or testing duration. Before comparing somebody else’s opinion with yours, check whether they mean the same product, edition and format.
An example from current Arabiva options
Ashlesha and Puppis Alba currently offer 2, 50 and 200 ml sprays alongside separate oil options. A 2 ml spray lets you choose a small quantity of each Arabiva product and record the experience under its actual name and format. These are Arabiva products, not official samples from another fragrance house. This guide does not announce a new sample bundle or bundle price.
Small formats are used for exploration elsewhere too: the Jo Malone discovery set presents trial sizes of several scents. Its sizes and terms belong to that brand and market, and do not automatically apply to an Arabiva order. Our product page and your selected options remain the purchasing reference.
Record the dates for made-to-order fragrance
Ashlesha and Puppis Alba are prepared to order and may be used from day one. For the best experience, Arabiva recommends resting the closed bottle for at least 21 days in a cool place away from sunlight and heat. Record receipt and trial dates so you know when an observation was made. This is not a compulsory waiting period or a measured longevity promise.
When should you choose a larger bottle?
Read your notes and ask whether you want to return to the scent and know which format you prefer. If you remain uncertain, keep comparing your sample rather than using a bigger purchase to resolve the question. At checkout, select the format and size again; a bottle photograph alone does not define the basket contents.
Explore the inspired fragrance collection, or consult our oil and spray guide if the options are unclear. A useful comparison ends with a decision that suits you and notes you can understand later, not a universal winner.
